24 AGOSTO - NUKU HIVA, HIVA OA

Ci svegliamo piene di dolori per la camminata e i tatuaggi di ieri ma siamo comunque soddisfatte delle giornate trascorse a Nuku Hiva. La gente era gentile e sorridente il posto era accogliente: non potevamo chiedere di meglio. Oggi dobbiamo partire e andare a Hiva Oa un'altra isola delle Marchesi. Dopo la solita colazione abbondantissima la padrona dell'hotel ci saluta calorosamente e ci regala le collane di semi e alle 10.45 il 4x4 viene a prenderci per portarci all'areoporto. Ancora una volta vediamo la gente nativa vestita secondo le loro usanze con tatuaggi e fiori nei capelli lunghissimi e nessun turista. E' un sogno!Facciamo il check-in che consiste nel farsi fare la carta d'imbarco (fatta a mano e senza computer) e poi pesiamo le valigie (su una bilancia di legno con la lancetta) e le consegnamo a due omoni enormi che le mettono su un carrellino e le portano sull'aereo. Almeno siamo sicure che arriveranno a destinazione visto che vediamo proprio quando le caricano sulla stiva. Vediamo anche il nostro aereo: piccolissimo da 16 posti con le ruote fisse che non rientrano e le ventoline. La hostess dopo aver fatto le dimostrazioni scende dall'aereo (e scappa via). Il volo è drammatico sitè essendo molto piccolo rimane a bassa quota ed è in balia delle turbolenze. Riusciamo a vedere il comandante che ogni tanto si gira e ci fa OH-YEAH.. altro che pilota automatico!! Non contenti siccome il viaggio è troppo lungo dobbiamo fare scalo a Ua Huka per il carburante. Finalmente appoggiamo i piedi per terra all'areoporto di Atuona il villaggio più grande di Hiva Oa. L'hotel ci manda la solita 4x4 e raggiungiamo l'Hanakee collect Lodge dove ci offrono limonata collane di fiori e salviettine fresche. La catena è la stessa e quindi anche i bungalow sono uguali e identici all'hotel precedente. Non abbiamo ancora pranzato ma comincia a piovere e quindi ci sentiamo in diritto di schiacciare un piccolissimo pisolino....... zZzzzZZZzzzZzZZZz... Per fortuna che il telefono della camera squilla e ci sveglia alle 20.00!! Corriamo a prepararci e subito a cenare! Gli ospiti dell'hotel ci sembrano un po' meno alla buona di Nuku Hiva e fumano quasi tutti. Ordiniamo dei gamberetti crudi con zucca lessa e tonno mezzo crudo con patate strane. Forse dovremmo imparare a scegliere meglio ma la novelle cuisine è così complicata.. anche la cosa più semplice è condita con salsine (e sul menù non lo scrivono!)!!Le bevande sono molto costose: l'acqua costa sui 400 FcP che corrispondono a circa 3 euro! L'acqua potabile putroppo non c'è e così dobbiamo usare quella in bottiglia anche per lavarci i denti!Andiamo subito a dormire e a prepararci mentalmente per la giornata di domani: la visita al villaggio di Atuona.

Guiri goes to New Zealand

Na een drukke zomer is het dan eindelijk zo ver... 9 Oktober zal ik vliegen naar New Zealand om hier mijn eindstage te gaan lopen. Een weekje later dan gepland omdat het allemaal niet helemaal wilde vlotten om alles op tijd te regelen met onder andere mijn endorse. Maar vandaag een mailtje gekregen dat ik mijn paspoort en visa op mag halen bij de New Zealand ambassade in Den Haag. Dus morgen maar snel ophalen. Wat een heerlijk gevoel.... Eindelijk weer weg uit het koude kikkerlandje wat na ruim een half jaar toch wel weet gaat vervelen. Mijn stage zal ik gaan lopen in het Huka Lodge in Taupo. Het luxe 5 sterren Lodge ligt ten noorden van de stad Taupo op het Noordereiland van New Zeeland en is waarschijnlijk het beste en beroemdste hotel van Nieuw-Zeeland. De lodge ligt gelegen aan de oever van de Waikato-rivier ca. 300 meter verwijderd van de Waikato-watervallen. De Lodge is begonnen als een eenvoudig onderkomen voor vissers maar is nu een luxueuze accommodatie met 20 gastenkamers en suites plus de unieke Owner’s Cottage. Een leuk weetje is dat prins Willem Alexander en prinses Maxima er in 2002 er tijdens hun huwelijksreis logeerden.
